In 1986, McMaster University Continuing Medical Education sponsored a pilot project on practice-based small group learning for family and general practitioners in the Hamilton-Wentworth area. This led to the establishment in 1992 of the PBSG Learning Program (PBSG). By 1997, PBSG had grown across the nation, and The Foundation for Medical Practice Education was developed to administer the Program. At present, McMaster University and The Foundation for Medical Practice Education maintain a close academic affiliation that includes collaborations in educational development, research and evaluation: Both organizations look forward to new possibilities to collaborate around innovations that will enhance education for different levels of learners and facilitate the application of new knowledge into practice. |
