IMPORTANT MEMBERSHIP UPDATE
MAINPRO-C & PBLP

Most family physicians participate in CME because they want to keep up-to-date and provide the best possible care to their patients. PBSG has been shown in a number of recent studies to be an effective way of translating new knowledge, attitudes, and skills into changes in clinical practice. Developed before The College of Family Physicians of Canada began to award MAINPRO-C credits, the PBSG Learning Program was one of the first programs recognized as providing the type of reflective learning critically important to quality CME. The College of Family Physicians has recently removed the requirement that each physician have 25 MAINPRO-C credits in a 5-year cycle to maintain certification. However, the College continues to recognize the superior education that programs that have the MAINPRO-C designation offer. This is reflected in two ways: (1) MAINPRO-C credits are now worth double MAINPRO-M1 credits ("two-for-one") and (2) completion of two 5-year cycles with 25 MAINPRO-C credits will result in the designation as a Fellow of the College. This change means that a group which meets for 1-1/2 hours each month over a five-year cycle could obtain all of their required M1 credits through the PBSG program alone. We hope you will continue to participate in the PBSG Learning Program-enjoying this high quality CME activity, with the added benefits of extra credits.
(Changes to MAINPRO credits also apply to the PBIL Program.)
